»Frames for Life« – In der Vortragsreihe 90 Minuten des Fachbereichs Architektur an der Jade Hochschule in Oldenburg berichten geladene Gäste über ihre Projekte, die eigene architektonische Haltung oder über aktuelle baukulturelle Themen.
Am 05.11.2019 spricht die Architektin Pia Ilonen von Ilo Arkkitedit: What if we just create the frames for life, making a place for people to inhabit with freedom to affect their immediate environment, to make it theirs, as opposed to adapting to the totality of design: architecture should not be solely the self-expression of the architect. These kinds of architectural philosophies with humanistic sensibility are gaining more foothold in the field of architecture. Behind that pressure lies the frustration with the prevailing housing on offer and its uniformity. The Tila Project, a block of 39 flats built in Helsinki at 2011, is based on the idea of providing residents with a living space equipped with only the absolute minimum: maximum space at minimum costs. The raw-space housing project was realized in two stages. The ”frame” – construction was first designed and built by the developper, then came the ”infill” phase with habitants building their homes as Do-It-Yourself –projects. In 2018 Pia Ilonen was invited to the 16th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia with the title ”Freespace” to show this project. She will discuss about Tila and other adaptable apartment houses initiated and designed by her in Helsinki.
