Quicker, Smarter, More Efficient Housing Now
Designing Affordability examines how architects, engineers, planners, policy makers, and citizens are crafting innovative ways to reduce the cost of housing and increase opportunities by rethinking how we build, maintain, and occupy structures. By addressing various elements necessary for the production of housing, these varied players are designing affordability and developing models to tackle the crisis and create new opportunities for all.
The case studies presented in this exhibition endeavor to reduce various aspects of project costs, whether they be development costs, operating costs, or land acquisition. In some cases, developments craft ways to increase project income to offset costs or provide a revenue stream for residents. Through various means, these projects are designing affordability.
